Public protest demanding removal of Tasmac shop near Bhavani

The locals of Vairamangalam Panchayat demanded closure of a Tasmac shop at Sevakauntonur road there. They alleged that people who come to drink liquor have stolen electric motors and cattle.  Accidents also occur frequently.  Officials promised to shift the shop to another location two months back when they staged a stir. But as the bar has not been relocated yet, the disappointed public staged a road roko on Sunday. On hearing, Bhavani tahsildar Thiagaraj and Kaunthappadi police came to the spot and held talks with the protestors. As they assured to take necessary action, the public abandoned the protest and dispersed.
