PWD staff stage Demo

Tamil Nadu PWD Employees Union, led by its state president Kasi Viswanathan, staged a demonstration in front of the PWD office, Erode, demanding regularisation of  3407 daily wage workers working in PWD and Water Resources Wing. 

He said that there are 4000 vacancies in the PWD could be filled up by using them.  The exisring daily wage and permanent workers should be given weekly leave, provident fund, surrender pay, old pension scheme, retirement pay. 

Those who were excluded from  Government Order No. 233, 6.12.2019, should be given due wages. 3 grades of work inspectors should be revised as work inspectors to get uniform pay, immediate promotion to qualified Irrigation assistants, Rs 2400 grade pay on promotion to all  work inspectors.

 Rs 1900 grade pay should be paid to civil helpers on par with electrical assistants,  regional and district level grievance redressal meetings should be held.  

We will work wearing black bands on August 1, 2, 3 and then march towards Chennai Fort to meet CM to press the demands, he said.
