Nurses were commended for their tireless work and dedication towards patient care on the occasion of International Nurses Day celebrated by the Sri Ramakrishna Hospital here.
Presiding over the event, Mr R Sundar, Joint Managing Trustee, SNR Sons Charitable Trust, appreciated the nurses for their selfless work and said the day was marked to reward them for their services.
He said it was a proud moment when the hospital was accredited with NABH Nursing Excellence, being the first in the region. International Nurses Day is celebrated on May 12 every year, marking the birth anniversary of Florence Nightingale, a pioneer in nursing.
The International council of nurses has defined the theme for this year’s International Nurses Day to be “Nurses- A voice to lead: Invest in Nursing and respect rights to secure global health.”
Hospital Chief Nursing Officer Dr J Karpagam and Coimbatore Medical College and Hospital Dean Dr.
A. Nirmala graced the occasion. Helium balloons were flown to mark the occasion. Prizes were awarded to outstanding nurses. competitions and cultural programmes were also held to mark the occasion.
