Online fraud is now commonplace. Not a day goes by without fraud. Innocent poor and middle class people get greedy and suffer huge losses. They lose all their bank savings and are in great agony.
RBI and other banks are creating awareness about online fraud. But fraud persists.
Tamil Nadu Director General of Police (DGP) C.Sylendra Babu has been posting frequent videos to warn people not to fall into this scam. He came to Coimbatore yesterday to participate in various police programs, and he has spoken again. Speaking to reporters, he said, ``For online crimes, the hotline number 1930 should be contacted immediately. When it comes to cybercrime, money fraud is the most prevalent. They pretend to want to add more money and then cheat the people involved. If someone cheats you, or if you feel cheated, you should immediately call the number 1930 and file a complaint. In these crimes, local or intra-India perpetrators can be caught easily. But catching foreign criminals is more difficult. "Don't be fooled by online scams," he warned.
Police has launched an app called "Police Help" for people. 66 types of assistance can be availed through this. But not many people download this app. It also has Android and Apple version. It will be a very useful app.
Those who have not downloaded the ``Police Help'' app should immediately download it on their cell phones especially women. This app is providing great security for women. Accepting the kind request of DGP Sylendra Babu, everyone should come forward to get police assistance through the ``Police Assistance'' app.
In particular, the general public should be careful not to fall prey to online scams. Heed DGP's advice and protect your money.
They come online and show desire to get more profit and more interest. Don't be fooled by greed!
