RERA rules to be simplified: Minister

Tamil Nadu Real Estate Regulatory Authority (RERA)  rules will  be simplified and a committee headed by a retired judge of the Supreme Court will be set up to regularize buildings constructed without plan permit, Housing Minister S Muthuswamy said. He distributed allotment order for houses, constructed  under the housing for all scheme to beneficiaries at  Nanjai Uthukuli,Modakurichi, near Erode on Thursday.

He told newsmen "people should construct  buildings after obtaining building plan permits. In the past, many buildings were built without such permission. So, the committee will examine the problem of how to regularize them and give suggestions. On that basis, we approach the court to get its guidance.

Real estate owners should also not sell unauthorized plots to the public.  If they do so, it will not be registered in the registration department.  If it has already been sold, the buyers should approach the concerned (DTCP) office and obtain approval for that plot.

If public utility places are not  allotted in the layout or sold out by realtors, the buyers of plots in such layouts can also approach the DTCP office to correct and regularize the layout.  The government is also planning to simplify the Real Estate Regulatory Act and  rules, he added.Modakurichi MLA Dr CK Saraswathi and Collector H Krishnanunni attended.
