Road-to-school initiative launched in Salem District

Dr. R. Brindadevi, District Collector inaugurated a guidance program for students at the Konganapuram Government Boys Higher Secondary School under the "Namma School Namma Ooru Palli (Road to School Initiative)" initiative, supported by the Hinduja Leyland company.

Highlighting the successful completion of the guidance program for students in the Sankagiri area over the past three years the collector expressed gratitude for extending the initiative to benefit students in Konganapuram and Magudanchavadi.

“The initiative will provide special classes for students with learning difficulties from grades 1 to 8 across 124 schools in the Magudanchavadi and Konganapuram unions, facilitated by 93 special trainers. Additionally, community workers will teach hygiene and life skills, while sports trainers will offer physical education.

The program aims to create employment opportunities for educated rural youth and requires teachers to pay special attention to students needing individualized focus, recognizing and nurturing each child's unique talents”, said the collector emphasising that such programs are crucial for realizing the dreams of rural students, potentially transforming them into achievers in various fields over the next three years.

Moreover, the initiative seeks to prevent female education dropout by raising appropriate awareness and ensuring comprehensive support from the district administration, Dr Brindadevi added.

The event saw participation from key officials including Mr. M. Kabir, District Primary Education Officer, Mrs. Srividya Ramasamy and Mr. Srinivasan Rangarajan Hinduja Leyland Finance officials, Mr. N.V. Balachander Ashok Leyland CSR Chief Officer, Mr. T. Sashikumar, and . Gopalappa, District Education Officer.
