Royal respect for Edappadi:Seat near Modi...why?

With only 10 months left for the 2024 parliamentary elections, the ruling BJP and the opposition parties are actively engaged in election work. The Modi-led BJP, which has been in power for the past 9 years, is trying to retain its power at the centre.
On the other hand, the opposition parties including the Congress have decided to oust the BJP from power and have decided to forget their differences and compete as a single alliance. 
For this, a meeting of the opposition parties was held in Patna last month, and two meetings of opposition leaders were held in Bengaluru yesterday and today. In today's meeting, the alliance has been named India.
At the same time, a meeting of BJP-led National Democratic Alliance leaders was held in the capital Delhi yesterday. Amid tight security, the meeting was chaired by Prime Minister NarendraModi, BJP National President J.P Nadda, Union Ministers Amit Shah, Rajnath Singh and many senior BJP leaders participated. 
From Tamil Nadu, AIADMK General Secretary EdappadiPalaniswami, Tamil Maanila Congress President G.K Vasan, Tamil Nadu Makkal Munnetra Kazhagam President John Pandian, Pudhiya Thamizhagam Party President Krishnasamy, Pudhiya              Needhi Katchi President A.C Shanmugam and others were present.
In this meeting, zone-wise representatives were selected and they welcomed Prime Minister Modi with a bouquet of flowers. EdappadiPalaniswami was selected as the South Indian representative of the National Democratic Alliance and welcomed Prime Minister Modi. 
EdappadiPalaniswami was assigned a seat next to Prime Minister Modi in the photo shoot and meeting that followed. Similarly, EdappadiPalaniswami was seen standing in the first row in the photograph taken by the alliance leaders. 
EdappadiPalaniswami, who had come to participate in the meeting earlier, was welcomed at the door of the hotel by J.P Nadda.
Why is EdappadiPalaniswami so important?
Amit Shah announced the Operation South plan at a BJP executive meeting held in Hyderabad last year. But it also lost power in Karnataka, the only state in South India where the BJP was in power. 
On the other hand, the conflict between AIADMK and BJP (Annamalai) which is the main party in Tamil Nadu continues.
In this situation, the BJP needs the support of the AIADMK as the parliamentary elections are approaching. Therefore, the BJP has given importance to EdappadiPalaniswami to keep the party in the alliance.
