Rs 19.15 cr worth benefits given to diffables in 2022-23

Erode district differently abled welfare department offered Rs 19.15 cr worth various benefits to differently abled persons in the district last financial year.
The department offered National ID cards to 1996, unique ID cards to 4724 Diffables, Rs 2000 per month as maintenance grant for 1108 persons with severe disability, Rs 2000 per month to 5494 mentally retarded persons, Rs.2000 per month to 170 persons with muscular dystrophy, Rs 2000 per month to 494 persons who recovered from leprosy, Rs 2000 per month to 113 persons affected with Parkinson's disease in 2022-23.
Besides, 85 Diffables were given Rs  7.20 lakh, 304 given educational aid of Rs 10.70 lakh, 3 visually impaired given Rs 16000, 39 given bank loan subsidy of Rs 7.5 lakh, 17 given Rs 8.5 lakh subsidy to sell Aavin products, 3 were given Rs 20000 for self employment, 16 given marriage aid of Rs 6 lakh with 8 gram gold coin.
In addition, 235 Diffables were given Rs 16.07 lakh worth sewing machines, 45 given Rs 34.42 lakh worth petrol scooters, 21 persons with spinal cord problems were given Rs 22.15 lakh worth petrol scooters, 400 visually and hearing impaired persons were given Rs 45.95 lakh worth Cell phones, 160 hearing impaired were given hearing aid worth Rs 4.51 lakh, 17 hearing impaired children were given initial training at an outlay of Rs 4.30 lakh, 27 persons suffered with autism were given Rs 12.42 lakh, 112 persons were given Rs 14.64 lakh as food subsidy and rent for the homes maintaining MR kids, and 18 teachers were given Rs 32.22 lakh salary grant.
Altogether, Rs 19.15 cr worth benefits were given to the Diffables in the district in last financial year. Many beneficiaries thanked the CM for extending due help to them, said district PRO Senthilkumar.
