Rs 2.77 lakh fine slapped on TASMAC shop staff

Collector Rajagopal Sunkara said that a fine of Rs 2.77 lakh has been imposed on the liquor shops involved in violation of rules in Erode district. 
 

He said a review meeting is being held every week regarding illegal liquor sale in Erode. 
All the 207 Government liquor shops and licensed bars should function from 12 noon to 10 pm only and keep the price list visible to the customers. 
 

Licensed liquor shop workers have been instructed to inform the Prohibition Police and TASMAC District Manager if there is any sale of fake liquor, not to allow outsiders into the shop and not to sell liquor at a price higher than the price fixed by the government. 
It has also been warned that criminal action will be taken against the shopkeepers for violating the government norms. 
 

Crimes including money laundering are detected. Officers are appointed to inspect shops. In the inspection carried out by the authorities from May 1 to June 10, a fine of Rs. 2.77 lakh has been collected from the employees of liquor shops who violated the norms. 
It has been informed that the public can report their complaints about liquor on the toll-free number 1800 425 2015, he said.
