Ever since Modi-led BJP came to power, GST has been imposed on all goods. As a result, the price of all commodities, including food, has risen sharply, affecting the common people. At present India is facing a severe economic crisis; GST tax has been imposed on rice, pulses, milk and other products which has caused a shock to the public.
ongress, DMK and Communist parties are strongly protesting this decision of the Union Government. Economists have also criticized the wrong GST policy of the Union government. Apart from this, there has been opposition to this tax system within the BJP. BJP M.P Mr. Varun Gandhi and others have said,”we are hurting people by imposing GST”.
Now it is RSS-affiliated agricultural organizations protesting against the imposition of GST.
The RSS-affiliated BharatiyaKisanSangh (BKS) has announced a farmers' protest rally in the capital Delhi demanding the removal of GST on agricultural implements and fertilisers. The condition of farmers in the country has further worsened due to the increase in the prices of inputs.Despite being producers, they are not making profit. So the Union Government should reduce the input share in GST to zero.
The fact that the BJP-backed RSS Farmers' Union is going to fight against the Prime Minister Modi government has strongly underscored the impact of GST. Will the Union government come forward to remove the farmers' woes by providing complete exemption from GST on essential commodities like rice, dal and milk?
