Ryots oppose industrial estate projects

A meeting of Bhavani River Protection Movement, held at Chennimalai, decided to start various struggle to protect the Bhavani River.

The movement leaders said that  SIPCOT has come up with plans to set up industrial estates in an area of ​​3 thousand 800 acres at Annur, Coimbatore district and 1 thousand 84 acres in Bhavanisagar area of ​​Erode district. But if these projects are brought, drinking water of about 18 lakh people and more than 10 lakh farmers will be  hit due to pollution problem.

Thadappalli - Arakankottai, Kalingarayan, Avinasi - Athikadavu irrigation projects, Bhavani river water will become completely polluted due to industrial wastes and become like Noyal river. So, ryots  were opposing this project. 

Who came from different areas spoke about the ill-effects of the projects 

In this regard, a consultative meeting of the organizations of Kizbhavani Irrigation and Bhavani River Protection Movements was held at Chennimalai on Thursday.

It was presided over by M. Ravi, coordinator of Kizbhavani Irrigation Protection Movement. Kizbhavani Farmers Welfare Association President C. Nallasamy and Tamil Nadu Farmers Association State President Venkatachalam took part.

Farmers who came from different areas spoke about the ill-effects of the projects. Furthermore, it was decided to file a petition with the Erode Collector requesting the Tamil Nadu government to cancel the industrial park projects in order to protect the Bhavani river.
