Ryots seek Rs 2500 as paddy procurement price

Tamil Nadu Farmers Association (CPI)State Vice-President CM Tulasimani and executives presented a petition to Erode District Revenue Officer Santoshini Chandra seeking hike in paddy procurement price to Rs 2500 per quintal. In that petition they said  as per the promise made by the government to the farmers during the assembly elections paddy price should be fixed at Rs. 2500 per quintal and Rs. 4 thousand per ton for sugarcane and given to the farmers immediately.

Central Government's Electricity Act Amendment Bill should be withdrawn and repealed permanently.  The central government has approved and repealed 3 farm laws as per the demand put forward by the farmers during their 13-month-long protest.

Accordingly, a new committee trusted by farmers should be set up and ensure minimum support price for all produce. A series of natural calamities occurred. So,  arrears of lease amount for affected years should be waived and revenue courts should be closed. Copra exports have decreased and prices have not been affordable for the past several months. In this situation, Tamil Nadu government has extended the procurement price for copra, which is welcome. The price of copra should be fixed at Rs.150 per kg.
