The Salem District Police and the Salem Nature Conservation Trust jointly carried out an environmental awareness cum cleaning campaign at the foot hills of Yercaud on Saturday morning.
From the foot of the hills, along the ghat road the volunteers distributed to the public handbills containing messages about environmentalawareness.
They also picked plastic wastes and bottles thrown indiscriminately and collected them in identified spots.
Superintendent of Police, Shri Abinav inaugurated the campaign.
Thaiyallnayaki, Deputy Superintendent of Police and several police officials and cops were present. Over 100 volunteers took part in the drive.
