Salute to Kargil Victory

Salute to Kargil Victory

Today is Kargil War Victory Day...

The soldiers of our country gave victory to the country by fighting valiantly against the Pakistani soldiers who invaded the border of the country in the shivering cold. Kargil Victory Day is being observed today for the 23rd year to remember those soldiers and to honour the living among the Kargil soldiers.

The Kargil war in 1999 was the most intense war between India and Pakistan till date. The Kargil war started on  May 3, 1999 and lasted until July 26, 1999. The Kargil war had 3 phases as Pakistan's infiltration was detected by our soldiers and then fought.

This war was named Operation Vijay. India won the battle between the Indian Army and Pakistan Army by defeating the Pakistani soldiers. During the Kargil War, the entire nation from Kashmir to Kanyakumari rallied behind our soldiers. The entire battle took place in a region of heavy snowfall.

As this area was a very dangerous terrain, the Indian soldiers faced the challenge bravely and faced the war. The Indian Air Force played an important role in the success of Operation Vijay in the high mountain peaks.

With the help of the Indian Air Force, India captured the Tiger Hill area in July. After this, India took over the areas occupied by Pakistan.

India captured all the places like Tiger Hill, Rolling Hill, Batra Top, SrinagarLeh National Highway which was held by Pakistan.

Kargil Victory Day was declared on July 26, after Pakistan Army was completely routed.
In Kargil war we lost 527 soldiers and officers and regained our territories.1,363 soldiers were seriously injured in this war. 700 people were killed on the Pakistani side.

On this day, we will salute all the Indian soldiers who fought and sacrificed their lives!
