Seminar on Menstrual Health at VETIAS

The Department of Sociology, VET Institute of Arts and Science (VETIAS) college, Erode and District Social Welfare Office conducted South Asian level seminar on Menstrual Health and Hygiene; Menstrual Waste Management on Sept 20 and 21.  Dr.R.Saravanan, Principal, S. Lokesh kumar Administrative officer, Dr. V.P. Nallasamy Dean Academics, Dr. Yasir Ashraf, Asst Prof and Head, Department of Sociology of the College, Prof Dr. C. Venkatachalam (Bharathiar University), Dr. P. Dhanalakshmi (PHC, Jambai) presided. In the 6 sessions 37 papers were presented by researchers of many South Asian countries.

The chief guests - Dr. Meenu Anand (Asst Prof, University of Delhi), Ms. Abi Shankari (Psychotherapist, Founder of  Margadharsi Counselling Centre), Ms. Sivatharshini Raveendran (University of Colombo), Dr. Muthalagi (Asst Prof, Thiru Kolanjiappar Government Arts College), Ms. Passang Lhambo (Royal University of Bhutan) and Ms. Lincy Joseph (Pazhassiraja College, Kerala) delivered special lectures.

Dr. Ajailiu Niumai (Prof and Head, Centre for study of Social Exclusion and Inclusive Policy, University of Hyderabad), Dr. Mohanasundari L (Associate Prof & Head, Dept of English, VET college), Ms. Anushree Pandey (Asst Prof of Sociology, Naveen Government Girls College, Jakhatpur), Ms. Lincy Joseph (Asst Prof, Dept of Journalism and Mass Communication, Pazhassiraja College, Kerala), Dr.  B. Geetha (Asst Prof, Dept of Sociology, Madurai Kamaraj University) and Dr. S. Sampath Kumar (Prof and Head, Dept of Sociology and Population Studies, Bharathiar University) attended as chair persons of the session covering various topics.
