JSS College of Pharmacy, Ooty in association with CSIR-HRDG, Govt. of India, New Delhi organized two days seminar on menstrual hygiene management for the benefit of the village / tribal people especially the adolescent school girls.
College Principal Dr S P Dhanabal inaugurated the function. Manjai Mohan, the councilor of Manjakombai, Raja, HM, Govt. High School, Rajesh, HM Govt. Middle School, Babu, Physical Education Teacher were the dignitaries who graced the occasion.
Later, Dr. C. Keerthana, Dr. Aneena Suresh the resource persons from the college and Ms. Mary Yesudas a volunteer delivered special lectures on menstrual hygiene using audio visuals. They have explained about the proper use of sanitary napkins and other alternative materials including menstrual cups and tampons.
Furter, awareness about the complications of poor menstrual hygiene and their related health problems and conditions were explained to the beneficiaries. A sanitary kit consisted of sanitary napkin, soap, Savlon, sanitizer, etc. were also distributed to about 100 beneficiaries.
Dr Deepalakshmi Mani, Asst. Professor, coordinated the entire event.
