Avinashilingam Institute for Home Science and Higher Education for Women organized a seminar on preparing women students for the 21st century higher education on October 6. In her keynote address, the chief guest Dr.Tamilisai Soundararajan, Governor of Telangana and Lt Governor of Puducherry, advised the students to avoid unnecessary technology and spend time on constructive learning. She asserted that women should have self confidence.
Talking about the National Education Policy, Dr. Tamilisai said that it promotes gender holistic education and aims to promote the child from classroom to a challenging global scenario. She therefore appealed to everyone to study the NEP properly to understand the earnest ideals of the policy.
She proudly mentioned the welfare schemes that the government has implemented and made possible especially for women and therefore we should ensure 100 percent literacy for women, who should become job givers from the state of being job seekers.
Dr. V. Bharathi Harishankar, Vice Chancellor, welcomed. Managing Trustee, Dr. T.S.K.Meenakshisundaram delivered presidential address. Chancellor Prof. S.P.Thyagarajan delivered special address. Dr. S.Kowsalya, Registrar, Avinashilingam Institute proposed the vote of thanks.
