Shock and delight follow court order!

An appeal was filed in the Madras High Court by O. Panneerselvam against the meeting of AIADMK General Council on July 11. Justice Jayachandran who heard the petitioner ruled the General Council meeting convened on July 11 null and void. On August 17, the verdict was announced that the status quo on June 23, the day on which the General Council was convened before that, will continue. The judgment was seen as favorable to O. Panneerselvam's side. Then he and his supporters indulged in joyous celebrations. After this, 
O. Panneerselvam's side demanded that both sides should work together. This was rejected by Edappadi Palaniswami. He appealed against the verdict in a two-judge bench.

In the judgment delivered yesterday in that case, the General Council meeting held on July 11 has become valid. Edappadi Palaniswami was selected as the Interim General Secretary in the General Council meeting held on 11th July. This judgment has confirmed this. The verdict was in favor of the Edappadi Palaniswami side. The Supreme Court has accepted that single leadership.

Following the verdict, Edappadi Palaniswami's supporters went into celebrations to express their joy. This judgment is seen as a major setback for  O. Paneerselvam's side as the judgment which came in his favor on 18th of last month, in two weeks it again went in favor of the Edappadi team.

O.Paneerselvam's team is hastily meeting and consulting. They still haven't recovered from the shock.  O. Panneerselvam has announced that he will appeal to the Supreme Court. However, the Supreme Court has already sent the case back. It is not known whether it will be examined as it is now an appeal. It is not known what the verdict will be even if it is examined.

Paneerselvam can approach the Election Commission and try to disable the symbol. On July 11, the General Committee had decided to hold an election for the post of General Secretary within four months. Now that the court has given a favorable verdict, Edappadi K Palanisamy will conduct the election soon. 

One thing is worth noting in this matter is that of a variable judgment-judgment of Single Judge and Division Bench. The fact that the verdicts  come alternately is causing confusion and criticism in people's minds.
 Life is a mixture of joy and sorrow. In the same way, shock and joy alternate between the Paneerselvam faction and the Edappadi Palanisamy faction. Currently, Edappadi Palaniswami has the upper hand.
Who knows what will happen next?  But one cannot totally rule out that opportunities will show up for O. Panneerselvam.
