Siddaramaiah's stubborn demand for two seats

Siddaramaiah's stubborn demand for two seats

Elections to all the 224 assembly constituencies in Karnataka will be held in a single phase on May 10. Congress has published the list of candidates in 2 phases. Accordingly, the names of candidates for 166 constituencies have been published.
It has been announced that former Chief Minister Siddaramaiah will contest as the Congress candidate from the Varuna constituency in the Karnataka assembly elections. State Congress president Mallikarjuna Kharge has demanded that he should be fielded as the chief ministerial candidate.

Meanwhile, BJP has fielded minister Somanna in Varuna constituency. There are reports that Siddaramaiah is now adamant that he wants to contest in constituencies in a tough competition. He has repeatedly requested that Kolar constituency should also be allotted to him.

And if the Congress party wins, Siddaramaiah is likely to get the post of Chief Minister. Thus he is determined to win this election. This is why he asks for two constituencies to safeguard himself from defeat.

However, we have to wait for the release of the next list of candidates to know the Congress party's decision on this matter. Meanwhile, nomination filing has started in Karnataka from today. Political commentators are predicting that the Congress and the BJP have equal strength there.

Pre-election opinion polls suggest that the Congress will win. There is no doubt that the Congress will get a chance to win only if it finds unity in the election field after conflict!
