Six including a Child die in a Road Accident near Attur

As many as six people were killed and five others seriously injured after a private omni bus collided with a van on the Salem-Chennai National Highway near Attur on Tuesday. 


The deceased were identified as Rajesh, Ramya, Saranya, Suganya, Santhiya and Dhansika. The injured were identified as Periannan, Bhuvaneswari, Krishnaveni, Udhayakumar and Sudha. They are undergoing treatment at Salem government Mohan Kumaramangalam medical college hospital. 


According to police sources, Rajesh, a resident of Komarapalayam in Namakkal district, visited Leigh Bazaar in Attur to attend a funeral on Monday. 

Around 1 am, he along with ten of his relatives visited a tea shop on the Salem-Chennai National Highways in a van and when they neared a flyover, an omni bus coming from opposite direction, collided with them. 


Alerted by the passersby, Attur police rushed to the spot. They admitted the injured to the government hospital and one of them - Periannan - is said to be critical. 


Attur police have booked a case and are further investigating the case.
