Slogans against Edappadi at Pasumpon

MuthuramalingaDevar'sJayanti(anniversary) and Guru Puja celebrations were held yesterday at Pasumpon village in Ramanathapuram district. Chief Minister M.K.Stalin personally visited Pasumpon to pay his respects. Many political leaders also paid their respects. Leader of Opposition and AIADMK General Secretary EdappadiPalaniswami along with former AIADMK ministers went to Pasumpon to pay tributes at the Dewar memorial.
EdappadiPalaniswami came and got down at Pasumbon surrounded by AIADMK T-shirts. A crowd gathered on the way and chanted ``Don't come for election gains''. However, EdappadiPalaniswami seemed to ignore it and went to the Devar memorial.The people standing outside kept chanting ``EdappadiPalaniswami down, down, EPS down down'. They also shouted that ``EdappadiPalaniswami, who did not come to pay tribute to Pasumpon last year, why should he come now? He has come because of the coming of the People's Assembly elections,'' they shouted.
They also chanted, ``Edappadi who cheated Sasikala''. Due to this a huge flutter was caused . He then bid farewell to the media. On the way back, a youth tried to throw a sandal at EdappadiPalaniswami's car and there was tension. The man was arrested by the police.
Alleging that Sasikala and TTV Dhinakaran's party had used people to raise slogans against EdappadiPalaniswami, the AIADMK said they were  trying to create an impression that there is opposition to EdappadiPalaniswami among the Devar community and that their plan will not work.
However, the anti-AIADMK parties claim that EdappadiPalaniswami's influence in South Tamil Nadu is very little. Opponents argue that the protest slogans raised against EdappadiPalaniswami in Pasumpon is an example of that.After the AIADMK split, EdappadiPalaniswami will face the first general election in 2024. What fame does he have in Tamilnadu especially Kongu region? Is there a wave against EdappadiPalaniswami in South Tamilnadu districts? It is the parliamentary elections that will answer many questions.
It is the prediction of political observers that the election results are going to determine the fate of AIADMK.
