Sonia, Priyanka Gandhi likely to visit Chennai

Congress leaders Sonia Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi are likely to take part in the centenary birth anniversary celebration of former Chief Minister M Karunanidhi that is scheduled by the DMK to be held at Nandanam in the city on Saturday.

 The leaders are leaving New Delhi by 7:55 pm and reaching Chennai around 10:50 pm by flight. Congress leaders KS Alagiri and party cadres have made arrangements to welcome them in a grand manner at the airport. The Gandhis chair a meeting with party functionaries on Saturday in the city. Discussions regarding the upcoming parliamentary election are likely to take place in the meeting. Priyanka is expected to visit former Prime Minister and her dad Rajiv Gandhi’s memorial at Sriperumbudur. A convoy was kept ready for her since she also likes to do shopping.

 Chief Minister MK Stalin has invited Sonia Gandhi for lunch on Saturday. It will be hosted either at his home or at a restaurant at Adyar in the city. After the INDIA bloc was formed, this is the first time the leaders are meeting privately and discussions regarding seat allocations are likely to be held.

 She will reach Nandanam by 4:34 and participate in the conference from 5 pm to 7 pm. She is returning to New Delhi by 6 am on Sunday.
