General manager of southern railways BG Mallya along with the principal chief signal and telecommunications engineer of southern railways S Selvadurai and chief workshop manager of S and T workshop in Podanur inspected the signal and telecommunication training centre and Signal and telecommunication workshop at Podanur in the city on Thursday.
During the inspection, the general manager commissioned the IP based CCTV system at the training centre, which has been installed for the safety and security of the women trainees. Various products manufactured at the workshop such as LED signal, digital voice announcement system (DVAS), SMS alert system, CR test kit (flasher), timers (60/120 sec), LED signal testing panel for checking the lux level were inspected.
Congratulating the workshop for getting a record five ISO certifications, the general manager stressed upon the importance of non-conventional energy while commissioning a 60 KW on grid solar power plant.
This is in addition to the 30 KW capacity solar power plant already available, making the workshop’s Solar Power capacity to 90 KW.
