The Chief Minister M.K Stalin inaugurated a special medical camp at the Children's Centre in Muthorai at Dodabetta Pancahayt in Nilgiris District today under the Nutrition Guarantee Scheme for children under six years of age.
The scheme was announced by the Chief Minister under Rule 110 on May 7, 2022. He further announced that the government has planned to conduct extensive medical tests with an aim to grow healthy children along with a special nutrition programme.
In implementing the programme the children within six years of age with severe to moderate nutrition deficiency would be put under medical tests and the nutritional programme.
It has been decided to prevent nutritional deficiency. The Department of Medical Services and Integrated Child Development Project will implement the programme. The special medical camps will be held in all the districts for one year. Children needing intervention would be identified and steps will be taken to ensure their balanced growth.
Their health will be monitored by uploading their details on an app. Children needing only nutritional support will be put under the nutrition guarantee programe.
Present on the launch of the scheme were M.P Swaminathan, Minister for Information, K.Ramachandran, Minister for Forests and Environment, A.Raja, M.P Nilgiris, S. P Amrith, Nilgiris District Collector, V. Amudhavalli, Project Director, Integrated Child Development Project, and other local body representatives.
