Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin is travelling for Kerala to participate in the 30th Southern regional council meeting in Thiruvananthapuram. Southern regional states including Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Lakshadweep Islands, Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Puducherry, Kerala and Karnataka would participate in the annual regional council meeting, conducted by the union government, to discuss the issues occurring between neighbouring states in detail. Issues like law and order issues, infrastructures, sanitation, women safety, water dispute and border issues.
Last year, the council meeting took place in November. This year, the chief minister would be discussing issues concerning Mullaperiyar dam among others during the meeting that takes place on Saturday.
Stalin left the city from Chennai international airport around 11:45 am. He, who reached Thiruvananthapuram, was likely to meet his counterpart in Kerala Pinarayi Vijayan in the evening hours. During the meeting, issues concerning Mullaperiyar dam, strengthening of baby dam, Siruvani reservoir and Neyyaru are likely to be discussed.
The meeting is expected to be the follow up of water resource department secretaries of both the states. The chief minister is participating in the cultural event that takes place in the evening. He returns to Chennai by flight on Saturday around 7 pm.
