Students of the four houses of Stanes Anglo- Indian Higher Secondary School participated in the 135th Annual Cross Country race held on July 9. Dressed in the four house colours Students navigated their way from C2 – Race course Police station and finished at the school Athletic field covering a distance of 4 km. At 6.30 am Mr.V.Balakrishnan, Commissioner of Police, Coimbatore City, flagged off the race. Mrs. Mercy Oomen, Chairperson, Mr. W. Gardener, Secretary, Mrs.Selene Vinodhini, Principal, Stanes AIHSS, Mr. Clayton D' Cruz, Physical Instructor along with the other PE instructors, Mr. Jacob, Physical Instructor, ICSE/ISC and Mrs. Eileen Jethro,Principal, Stanes CBSE, were flag off referees for the day.
The enthusiastic winners were Adithya.V. of the Wolves house. Placed first with a timing of 15 min,44s, Alan Steve Appadurai of Panthers house with 17 min,25 secs and Sanjay.S of Tigers house with 17 min, 28 secs were placed second & third respectively. The girls also kept up the momentum and proved their grit & determination.
Megha S.K. of the Lion house finished first with a timing of 19 min 49 s, followed by Aashidha with 20 min,56 secs dand Prathuksha.V. of the Panthers house with 23 min, 16 secs. Mrs. Mercy Oomen, Chairperson, Mr. RJ.Philip Fowler, Correspondent, Mrs. S.Selene Vinodhoni, Principal, Dr.Diwakaran, Vice Principal,Mr. Meenakshisundaram, AHM, Senior school & Mrs. Priya Sheen, AHM, Junior school honoured the winners with Medals and Certificates.
