Stone pelting on Vande Bharat train: Two arrested

There have been incidents of stone pelting by some anti-social elements on Vande Bharat trains. On Thursday night, 07/12/2023, vande Bharat Express was on its way to Coimbatore from Chennai. When it was passing between Peelamedu and Vadakovai railway stations, some miscreants hurled stones at the train. Window panes of the train were damaged in the incident.

On the orders of Mr.Saurav Kumar, Divisional Security Commissioner, Salem, Railway Protection Force (RPF), A special team was formed under the supervision of Sri.Ratheesh Babu, Assistant Security Commissioner, Railway Protection Force, Coimbatore and the search for the culprits has been going on for the past one week. 

The special team consists of The Railway Protection Force, Coimbatore Railway Station. Gunasekaran, Sub-Inspector, Shri. Balayya Sub-Inspector, Constables Shri. Ramkumar and Ramamoorthy were engaged in the search operation in plain clothes. And Mrs. Alice Antony, a sub-inspector, was also patrolling the Peelamedu area today (13/12/2023) when they caught hold of two persons who were roaming around suspiciously near the railway track and interrogated them. 

On investigation, it was revealed that they had pelted stones at Vande Bharat train on 07/12/2023. The arrested persons - 1) Saravanan aged /28, S/o Santhanam, Mannargudi, Thiruvarur (DT) and 2) Jagadeesh Aged/23, S/o Murugan, Kovilmedu, Coimbatore both admitted to throwing stones at the train for fun. Subsequently, the RPF officials who arrested them and produced before the Honble JM /1 court at coimbatore.
