Students should be aware of govt schemes: Electricity minister V Senthil Balaji

Students should be aware of the government schemes, electricity minister V Senthil Balaji said after asking questions about the government's financial status report and fund allocation. The minister was addressing the gathering during the appreciation ceremony for ‘Pudhumai Penn’ scheme organized at Avinashilingam university in the city on Monday.He asked the students to be happy and said that as many as 452 students of the university benefited from the government scheme.

“Even when the financial condition of the state was bad, the Chief Minister wanted to implement all the electoral promises. Avinashilingam was someone who showed us how to live. He established an institution in which over 8,500 students were studying. We received a petition requesting us to remand the college road after him,” he said.Pointing out that the highest amount was allocated for the education department this year, he said that about 39 colleges were opened this year and both the school and higher education department have been functioning efficiently.

This year, the state government has allocated Rs 7,000 crore to provide monthly honorarium to women family heads, he said, adding that it was only to analyze the understanding of the students, the questions were asked.“The Chief Minister inaugurated ‘Naan Mudhalvan’ scheme on his birthday.  For Coimbatore, Rs 9,000 crore was allocated for the metro rail project and an announcement regarding establishment of an IT park was made to create more employment opportunities,” he added.
