The 9th edition of the series of the subcontracting fair – SUBCON- was kick-started on Wednesday at CODISSIA trade fair complex in the city. The three-day fair is aimed at connecting the buyers and sellers in the industry.
It is an effort to bring the PSUs, DPSUs and large industries to the venue who will showcase their requirements to the MSMEs and create awareness among the industry people on the procedures to become a vendor to them. The objective of the fair is to create a healthy networking between them, ensuring job orders for the small units.
The fair is supported by National small industries corporation in New Delhi, technology development centre, process and product development centre in Agra, and FaMe in Chennai. As many as five states – Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Kerala, Maharashtra, and Puducherry – are participating in the fair.
Coimbatore region has more than two lakh MSME units, both Registered and Unregistered. The economy of this region is sustained predominantly by these MSME units. The city is also known for its precision engineering of machined components and sub-assemblies, and is the hub for casting, forging and machined components. In general, the region can be a one-stop place for all the engineering requirements. Because of their capabilities and high degree of competence, several companies from this region export their products to various parts of the globe. These MSMEs act as the extended arm to the large industries that look up to them as partners in their manufacturing process.
More than 10,000 visitors are expected to visit the fair. More than 225 exhibitors including 15 PSUs, 10 large private sector industries and financial institutions are participating in the fair.
