Swelect launches a new facility worth Rs 125 C

The city-based solar power products manufacturer Swelect energy systems limited on Friday announced the launch of a new solar module manufacturing facility built at the cost of Rs 125 crore on 1.3 lakh square feet area at Kuppepalayam village near Annur in the district.

The director of the company Mirunalini Chellappan said that the plant has the manufacturing capacity of upto 700 MW and it has the capacity to produce 2,700 modules in a day.  At present, the company produces 385 watt peak panel and it could go upto 595 watt peak panel. By the end of the year, they have plans to produce upto 650-700 watt peak panel.

Managing director of the company R Chellappan said they have been working on increasing their plant’s annual manufacturing capacity from 700  MW to 2 GW, and they were also planning to step into solar cell-manufacturing.He said, “The company has made MW scale installation at several Indian oil corporation limited refinery facilities and it has sold power to the state government, SECI and private industries. It has sold about 40 MW to dairy industries and over 35 MW to airports.”

Though the company operates predominantly in India, it has offices in Singapore and the US, and they are planning to expand their business to Australia and the Middle-east.  The company is recognized as a ‘tier-1 solar PV module manufacturer’ by Bloomberg new energy finance.
