Teachers Day celebration in Avinashilingam Institute

The Teachers’ Day programme was held at the Avinashilingam Institute for Home Science and Higher Education for Women, Coimbatore.Prof. S.P. Thyagarajan, Chancellor rendered the presidential address. He  appreciated the service of the teachers in the institution. He went on to illustrate how teaching as a profession is respected all over the world by drawing example from Germany and South Korea.

The Special Address, titled, “ The Role of Teachers in Nation Building” was delivered by Prof. Dr. E. Balagurusamy, where he began with four classification of teachers and substantiated his category of ‘inspiring teacher’ with the former  president, Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan. He  explained the role of education in building the country.

He emphasized on model of youth development with 8 Cs – curiosity, creativity, character, courage, competence, communication, compassion and commitment. He concluded  by refocusing on the socio-economic development of the country and youth’s contribution towards it. Dr. Bharathi Harishankar, the vice-chancellor, delivered her greetings when she emphasized on integrating  individual development with social progress. This was followed by the greetings from Dr. S. Kowsalya, the Registrar who reminisced about the founders of the institute and their contribution towards education.
