Teachers told to guide Students properly

Teachers and parents should guide students properly in choosing their career, advised housing minister S Muthusamy.Inaugurating the career guidance programme for students under the Naan Mudalvan scheme at the  Velalar arts college on Thursday, he recalled that when he was a student, none guided him on higher studies.

He only opted a college which has good basketball ground as he was a basketball player. Now,  he felt that if he was guided properly in choosing his course, he could have in better position. Now, not only various agencies but also the government itself came forward to guide students to chose their career by holding Naan Mudalvan and Kalluri Kanavu schemes.

Though the CM initiated the scheme, the success of any scheme is at the hands of officials only.  So,  education department officials, teachers and parents should guide the students properly to come up in life. When he tried to bring IRTT engineering college at Chithodu in 1982, just 2500 engineers alone came out every year in the state through 7 colleges.

But, now due to increase in the number of colleges, over 2 lakh engineers came out every year in TN. In recent past, many opted traditional courses like B.Com. So, the students should opt courses according to their taste and master it to come up in that field, he advised.

Collector H Krishnaunni, MLA AG Venkatachalam, Mayor Nagarathinam, CEO Ramakrishnan, College Correspondent SD Chandrasekar and many officials attended the function.
