India's Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who was on a tour of France, was given a warm welcome. Prime Minister Modi attended the National Day of France as a special guest. President Emmanuel Macron honoured him with the country's highest award.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Modi, who addressed the people of Indian origin at a program organized in La Chaine Musicale in Paris, made the Tamils proud by suddenly announcing that a statue of Thiruvalluvar, the composer of Thirukkural, which is considered world wide as a great book, will be erected in France.
Tamil poet Thiruvalluvar has a special place in Indian history. The statue of Thiruvalluvar will become popular, so that the people of France can celebrate his greatness. It will be set up in the Prefecture De Serge in France.

This statue will make India proud. Announcing this, Prime Minister Modi quoted  from Thirukkural written by Thiruvalluvar."How much pleasure does a mother get when her child is praised by others?," he mentioned saying he was feeling such a moment.

Prime Minister Modi also recalled another idea that gave specialness to Tamils at the ceremony. He said that Tamil is the oldest language in the world and India is proud to have it.
