Three drowns in a canal at Cuddalore

Three people drowned on Monday while bathing in the Velliangal canal near Kattumannarkoil in the district.
According to police sources, five children had gone to bath in the canal on Monday evening. Of which, three of them fell into a deeper area. Alerted by the public, fire service personnel rushed to the spot and after a three-hour search, recovered the bodies of the children.
The deceased were identified as U Mujibullah (8), M Jafar Sadik (10), and S Sadik Basha (13).
Their bodies were sent to the government hospital for autopsy. Sethian thoppu DSP Vijayakumar visited the spot and conducted an investigation. Police have filed a case and are further investigating the case.
