TMC state general secretary and ex-MLA Vidiyal Sekar submitted a petition to the Collector at the Collectorate urging the government to withdraw the steep hike in power tariff in the state. Party district president Vijayakumar, state vice president Arumugam and many functionaries accompanied him.
Sekar said already people were suffering much due to steep rise in the prices of essential commodities including petrol, diesel, gas and also due to loss of income during corona lock down period for the past 2 years.
Already, property tax and prices of Aavin goods were hiked. So, at this juncture, the power tariff hike would add more burden on them. So, it should be withdrawn, he said.
