The TMC Youth Wing State president M Yuvaraja appealed to the government to grant due relief to the families of 2 aged women who died due to felling down of a tree and roof top in the heavy rain that lashed Erode on Tuesday evening. The statement issued by the party's youth leader M. Yuvaraja:
In a release, he said, ''it has been raining intermittently in Erode district for the last few days.  Hurricane winds and thundershowers lashed parts of Erode on Tuesday and Wednesday.

This caused traffic disruption as trees fell in  areas like Palayapalayam, Kumalankuttai, Thindal, Muthampalayam and Nasiyanur Sengodambalayam. There was a thunder and lightning strike and the electric poles also broke in many  areas and 2 aged women died due to felling down of a tree and the roof of a house in the Thindal and Nasiyanur area.

Power supply has not been restored in many areas.  The trees have not been removed and the district administration should assess the damage caused by the rains and provide appropriate relief.
He also called for adequate compensation for the families of the dead and injured, rebuilding houses for the homeless, and immediate removal of fallen trees along the road to prevent traffic jams, he pleaded.
