Mr Siva V Meyyanathan, Minister for Environment & Climate Change, Government of Tamil Nadu said that the Government of Tamil Nadu under the Green Tamil Nadu Mission has proposes to plant 10 crore trees annually to increase the green cover in the State from the current level of 23% to 33%. Delivering address at the CII-Southern Region EHS (Environment, Health & Safety) Excellence Award Ceremony was held in Chennai recently, the minister said, the thrust areas identified by the State Government in ensuring ecological, environmental, and socio-economic security of Tamil Nadu are- Coastal Zone Management, Technology Intervention, Eco-restoration of Water bodies, Creation of Environment awareness and capacity building among others, said the Minister.
CII-SR EHS Award
Speaking about the CII SR EHS Award, Mr Sohanjeet Randhawa, Chairman, CII-SR EHS Excellence Awards & Director – Sustainability Affairs, Volvo Group, India said, “ CII-SR EHS Award has grown phenomenally over the years in terms of industry participation. This edition witnessed the participation of 204 teams from over 180 companies from across South India.

Mr. P Ravichandran, Chairman, Sustainability Sub-Committee, CII Southern Region & President, Danfoss Industries Pvt Ltd, said. “The shifting focus from the detection to the prevention of hazards is an environment, health, and safety (EHS) market trend that is expected to have a positive impact in the coming years, he added.
