TNAU hosts 11th Annual Seed Workshop 2025

The 11th Annual Seed Workshop was organized by Seed Centre, Tamil Nadu Agricultural University, Coimbatore on Thursday.
More than 80 scientists participated in the workshop to finalize the seed production of various crops in TNAU for the ensuing year 2025-26. During the inaugural session, Dr. R. Umarani, Director, Seed Centre, TNAU welcomed.
The presidential address was given by Dr. V. Geethalakshmi, Vice-Chancellor, TNAU, in which she emphasized that after initiation of the Seed Centre in 2006, seed production has increased by four fold. 
The Vice-Chancellor congratulated the Scientists for the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed between TNAU and National Seeds Corporation Ltd., New Delhi for the supply of TNAU seeds, saplings, seed coating formulations, biofertilizers, biopesticides, micronutrients, crop boosters, etc., to NSC so as to enhance the availability of quality inputs to the farmers at national level.
Dr. R. Ravikesavan, Director, Centre for Plant Breeding and Genetics, TNAU, Coimbatore highlighted the salient features of newly released varieties and influence of climate change on the crop productivity and seed yield. 
Mr. J. Selvendran, Regional Manager, NSC, Chennai, Dr. V. Sankaran, Ex. General Manager, NSC, Dr. V. Manonmani, Professor and Head, Department of Seed Science and Technology, Seed Centre, TNAU, spoke.
