TNCDW hosts regional workshop on skill development for rural youth held at Ooty

The Tamil Nadu Corporation for Development of Women (TNCDW) launched a two-day regional workshop on January 27 in Nilgiris to revamp skill development initiatives under the Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Grameen Kaushalya Yojana (DDU-GKY) and Rural Self-Employment Training Institutes (RSETIS) 2.0 for 2025-26. 
Funded jointly by the Union and State Governments, the event focused on enhancing employment opportunities for rural youth and adapting to emerging industry demands.
S Divyadharshini IAS, Managing Director of TNCDW, welcomed participants, highlighting Tamil Nadu’s leadership in implementing youth skilling and employment schemes. 
She emphasised the state’s active role in the Captive Employment Programme, which collaborates with major industries to provide training and direct job 
opportunities.
Pankaj Yadav IAS, Joint Secretary, Ministry of Rural Development, delivered the keynote address, stressing the importance of revising current skill programs to align with industry requirements. 
He announced the launch of DDU-GKY and RSETI Schemes 2.0 in 2025, aimed at addressing rural youth’s skill development needs more effectively. 
Key officials, including Sanjay Kumar Pandey, Joint Director of NIC, Shreya P Singh IAS, Executive Director of TNCDW, and Sudeepdatt, Joint Secretary (Government of India) for DDU-GKY, shared insights on the upgraded 
programs. 
The workshop, attended by representatives from Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Karnataka, Goa, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, and Union Territories, concluded with a vote of thanks by R Shankar, COO of DDU-GKY, TNCDW.
