Tourists flock Yercaud in large numbers during Diwali holiday

Since it was a consecutive holiday in due to Diwali and week end, Yercaud attracted tourists from not only Tamil Nadu, but also foreign states and foreign countries. Most of the visitors arrived in personal transport vehicles like cars, SUVs and bikes.  From Yercaud entrance area, boathouse, through Anna park to bus stand, ladies seat and shop road, there was severe traffic jam. There are more than 40 policemen working in Yercaud.

As most of them are given alternative jobs in Salem, less than 15 policemen are working in Yercaud police station. Due to this, not enough policemen were involved in the work of fixing the traffic conjestion in Yercaud. It took very long time for the traffic to move and left toursists restive. Many lamented that they couldnt reach their favourite spots or hotel rooms in time. During holidays, there will be heavy traffic jams. As usual, in Yercaud, the authorities have failed take steps to deploy additional police.
