Tyre retreading units are in deep financial crisis due to steep rise in prices of raw materials, rise in the price of crude oil, arrival of radial tyres and workers shortage etc, Erode district tyre retreading owners association president TKM Abdul Kafoor told newsmen here on Saturday.
He along with association functionaries Arumugam, Kandasamy, Shanmugasundaram, Kumarasamy, Mohanasundaram and Rafiq said that due to the steep rise in the prices of raw materials for tyre retreading work, over 50 percent of retreading shops were closed and the remaining were also facing deep financial crisis.
So, the association decided to hike the service charge slightly and sought the cooperation of the customers.
