The VCK will continue to urge the DMK government to withdraw GO 152 to privatise cleaning work in the municipal corporations in Tamil Nadu, said principal secretary Pavarasu and deputy general secretary Kaniyamuthan.
They alongwith Party District Secretary Siruthai Valluvan and Executives Kamalanathan, Thangarasu, Shanmugam and Devanth paid tribute to freedom fighter Pollan's portrait at Modakurichi.
Then they said that VCK opposes contract labour system. Already our leader Thol Thirumavalavan has opposed the appointment of sanitary workers through the private sector in the local bodies. Every corporation has separate laws. So, separate Act should be issued to cancel the GO. The DMK government has promised to enact the law. The practice of recruiting employees through the private sector was started in the last AIADMK regime and it continues in DMK rule. It affects the social justice and reservation policy. Therefore, we are against privatization. Similarly, we want uniform salary for cleaning workers in all local bodies. We opposed the appointment of drivers through the private sector in TNSTC, he added.
