VCK Erode - Tirupur Regional Secretary Siruthai Valluvan and Regional Deputy Secretary A. Jaffer Ali sublitted a petition to the TN Assembly Estimate Committee President Anbazagan and member Chintana Selvan (VCK MLA) regarding the unused Tahdco sheds in Perundurai Sipcot industrial growth centre.
The details of the petition are: with a good intention of creating jobs for dalits, the Government constructed the 200 sheds for knitting units for them in 150 acres in the Sipcot under the TAHDCO scheme. The construction work started on 15.03.1996. On 14.12.1996 the construction of 200 buildings was completed. Those buildings are located in an area of 100 acres. The Sipcot sold the rest of 50 acres to three private companies 2 years back and thus committed injustice to dalits. The 200 buildings built for the development of Dalit people have been dilapidated without maintenance for the last 27 years and thus the Dalit people have not been able to do self-employment for the last 27 years. We want to recover the 50 acre land for the development of Dalits to start industries there and allotment of 200 sheds to dalits to start knitting units by providing Tahdco aid and loan, they pleaded.
