VMHSS student bags I Prize in Chess tourney

S Swetha, 9th std student of Erode Vellalar Matric HSS, Erode, won I prize in the District Level Chess Competition, arranged by the District  Chess Circle and TN Chess Federation, at Kongu Matric HSS. 

The event was arranged for school students in all districts as per direction of  TN government in connection with the International Chess Olympiad to be commenced at Mamallapuram from July 28. 
Over 300 school students attended the event and among them, prizes were distributed to 54 students. 

Among them, Swetha won I prize with a cup. She was appreciated by school correspondent SD Chandrasekar and Principal Rajeswari at the school on Saturday. 
The government would arrange the visit of all winners of the event to witness the Olympiad at Mamallapuram and stay there for 3 days with providing boarding and lodging facility for them free of cost to promote their interest on chess,  officials said.
