AIADMK's OPS' faction suddenly met the press in Chennai. O. Panneerselvam, Vaidhyalingam, Panruti Ramachandran and others participated in this meeting.
In this meeting, Vaidyalingam first read a statement. In it, he described the background of the Kodanad case seriously and announced that he would hold a protest on August 1 to take immediate action.
Why did OPS suddenly announce a protest against EPS?
AIADMK former minister Jayakumar says the reason is DMK's incitement. Jayakumar further said that he is doing this to create a wrong impression in the minds of the people, and since he cannot directly oppose the AIADMK, he is hiding behind the DMK.
Political commentators say this is a blatant lie because OPS side had announced the protest sine the DMK government is showing laxity in the investigation of this case.
On the same day last year, on July 11, the general body of AIADMK met and appointed Edappadi Palaniswami as the interim general secretary. O. Panneerselvam and his supporters were expelled from the party. That is why on this day, some people say, he may have taken this issue into his hands to put pressure on the Edappadi's side. While Edappadi Palaniswami had issued a statement on July 10 that there was a breakdown in Law & Order in Tamil Nadu, the very next day, OPS has taken an incident in his hands that would cast widespread suspicion on Edappadi's side.
As far as O. Panneerselvam's side is concerned, it has been facing setbacks for the past one year. Except for one civil case, all other cases have been decided in favor of Edappadi.
In this one year since he was expelled from the OPS party, no one from the Edappadi side has come to him in large numbers. In this situation, O. Panneerselvam believes that if the Kodanad case is expedited, if the Edappadi side faces any problem, people may come to his side. He might also have felt that it would be better if the case was expedited by applying a pressure.
The news that the Election Commission has accepted the list of AIADMK office bearers announced by Edappadi's side is now out. Also, the Edappadi side has been invited to the meeting of BJP's alliance parties to be held on July 15. O. Panneerselvam's side was not invited. The Panneerselvam side feels that the BJP has almost abandoned them.
Is OPS' meeting the press and announcing the protest by taking the Kodanad issue in the hands an attempt to establish himself in Tamil Nadu politics?
