Wins bronze in 2023 National Sailing Championship

Alia Sabreen Faisal, a Grade 10 student from Chennai and two-time national award winner, won a bronze medal in the YAI youth multi-class sailing championship 2023 in Mysuru, Karnataka. She started sailing at 11 years old and began sailing in an Optimist and later switched to a Laser. Faisal is trained by Chinna Reddy of the Royal Madras Yacht Club and ParuMadhu, the Asian Games coach for laser class boats. She is a member of the Tamil Nadu Sailing Association and has represented Tamilnadu in numerous national tournaments. 

Faisal has won gold and silver medals in two separate national competitions last year and is ranked fourth by the Yachting Association of India. She expressed her gratitude to her parents, coach Mr. ParuMadhu, and school, APL Global School, for their support and encouragement. Faisal's current training and award will serve as a steppingstone for future significant accomplishments.
