The 47th Summer Festival in Yercaud commenced today with its flagship event, the Flower Show, showcasing about one lakh flower plants and 650 varieties of blooming roses.
This annual event, traditionally held in the first or second week of May, has been delayed this year due to election activities. Nevertheless, the vibrant display in Anna Park, Government Botanical Garden and the Rose Garden, which has been meticulously prepared over the past six months, promises a breathtaking experience for visitors.
Among the highlights are the 650 varieties of roses, including notable ones like Doublelight, Summersnow, Purplemoon, Milkyway, Silver Lining, Table Mountain, and Glory. Additionally, the horticulture department has curated a stunning array of flowers such as zinnia, dahlia, salvia, carnation, gerbera, pergunya, delphinium, and dragon flower in pots for the exhibition. Local favorites like lily, dahlia, and sunflower are also prominently featured.
