Yuvaraj catches over 34000 snakes

Erode based snake catcher N Yuvaraj catched over 34000 snakes during the past 17 years to save many lives. It is a record in TN.  But, unfortunately, the government didn't recognise his service suitably, except an appreciation certificate given by the previous Collector Krishnanunni and some NGOs.
His uncle died due to snake bite 17 years back encouraging him to catch snakes, entering houses, and thus save endangered people. His service saved thousands of lives in the district, though he was belonging to a poor family without having permanent income. Initially, he didn't have any safety kit. Now, he got it from forest department.
After knowing his skill, the fire service men informed him whenever they received a call from the public. During his selfless service he was suffered with snake bites for over 25 times. Nearly 5 years back, he suffered with the bite of highly poisonous cobra and was saved by the efforts of the doctors of MMCH, Erode, after much difficulty.
After catching the snakes, he hand over them to the forest officials at Erode who leave them safely in the forest after giving a certificate to him. But, none extend any financial assistance to him to travel in his motorcycle to the spot where the snake entered. In fact, of 34000 snakes, over 50 percent were highly poisonous snakes.
In a few incidents only, the house owners offered some money.
He caught snakes from the house of minister Muthusamy, collector's bungalow and AIADMK Party office at Erode etc. Initially, he served in Home Guard and was now doing some health mix sales business. "Inspite of high risk, I continue the service for the benefit of the society to save the lives  of both people and snakes''.
