Potters sore over not getting clay for the past 8 months at Erode

Potters, led by district Kulalar association president Kanagaraj, complained to the Collector at the collectorate against the mines and minerals department that it refused to give permission to take clay from water courses for the past 8 months to produce earthern goods. He said that they were permitted to take clay from the lakes at Ennamangalam, Avalpoondurai, Kavilipalayam and Odathurai in the district. But, for the past 8 months, they were denied permission to take clay on the ground of that the government didn't permit desilting work there. So, over 2000 potters families suffer much to produce goods and without clay. Despite, many pleas, the department didn't help us. In the state, after the present rule came to power,  rain season relief to over 4000 potters were stopped on the ground that they were getting old age pension. But such relief was being given to fishermen in addition to the old age pension. Similarly, the government didn't give battery operated charka to the potters for the past 3 years. But the CM said people were happy in the statement issued after completion of 3 year rule, he tried.
