In response to the demands of the public, the facility of applying for name change in the gazette has been introduced at Salem Government Branch Press.
Deputy Manager of Salem Government Branch Press Mr.K. Dhanasekaran said, The practice of changing name in Tamil Nadu Gazette is already in use in Chennai, Madurai and Trichy district government branch presses. In order to make it easier, the Minister of Tamil Development and Information Department during the stationery and printing subsidy request for the financial year 2023-2024 annnounced that the people should visit Madurai, Trichy and Chennai for applying for name change. In order to make it easier, the facility will be introduced in other government presses also.
From last 26.04.2023, the facility of public to apply for name change has been implemented in Salem Government Branch Press. So far, Salem Government Branch Printing Office has received 81 applications for name change in Tamil, 214 applications in English and 9 applications for name change of converts, have been received, verified and changed name in English till last 02.06.2023 changed name in English
Also, general public, application fee of Rs.350/- and postal fee of Rs.65/- for name change in English, total Rs.415/-, application fee of name change in Tamil Rs.50/- and postal fee of Rs.65/- A total of Rs.115/- should be paid through e-Challan in any bank i.e. State Bank of India, Indian Overseas Bank, Bank of Baroda and Indian Bank. Transgender applications will be received free of charge.
